Rene Schlaepfer is senior pastor of Twin Lakes Church (www.tlc.org) near Santa Cruz, California. His superbly clear and humorous teaching always results in Jesus transforming many lives through His Word. Rene is a former broadcaster whose voice may be familiar from the internationally syndicated program The Story Behind The Song, from his morning show on contemporary Christian radio, or from national ad campaigns for products such as Tyndale House’s The Book.
Rene is the author of “Jesus Journey”; “God Is”; “Grace Immersion”; “Hope Experience”; and “Thrill Ride: Thriving Through Life’s Ups and Downs”. He lives in the beautiful beach town of Santa Cruz with his wife Laurie. Born in San Jose, California to Swiss immigrant parents, Rene grew up with dual citizenship and briefly lived in Switzerland before settling on the West Coast. There he worked for many years in broadcasting, primarily as an on-air personality on contemporary music radio stations. While in broadcasting, Rene earned a BA in Radio/TV/Film from San Jose State and an MA Theology from Western Seminary. Since then, he has served as a pastor in San Diego, South Lake Tahoe, and Santa Cruz. Rene and Laurie have three children: Jonathan, Elisabeth, and David. Beside their love of church ministry, Rene and Laurie also advocate together for their favorite causes: local food banks and an orphanage in India.
Bill Butterworth’s public speaking experience coupled with seminary training has produced a Bible teacher with wonderful wit, warmth and realism. He is a regular contributor to various publications and has written close to two dozen books.He was on the faculty of Florida Bible College for eight years and was Director of Counseling Ministries at Insight for Living, the radio ministry of Chuck Swindoll, for six years. Not only has he been warmly received at such great churches as Willow Creek Community Church and Saddleback Community Church, he has also addressed such corporate clients as Disney, Ford Motor Company and the National Football League.
